Pilot Joint Call
The CONCERT-Japan project aims to announce a pilot joint call among the participating organizations from the European countries and Japan. First year of the project prepares the process leading up to a call with activities ranging from analysis and mapping studies towards definition of common priorities and cooperation strategies.
A Fuding Organizations Forum (FOF) will be established during the course of the project in order to bring together the organizations participating the joint call activity. The forum will enable a platform where decisions relating to the joint call are taken and networking among funding organizations is ensured.
Information for Researchers
The thematic fields of the envisaged call is expected to be specified and publicly announced by first half of 2012, through consent among the funding organizations which agree to provide funding for the joint call in European countries and Japan. However, all kinds of interested parties including researchers, academia and business are invited to submit opinions about the thematic fields they suggest. Such bottom-up suggestions will be taken into account in the determination of the thematic fields of the call.
All interested individuals and organizations are called to submit their preferences on the thematic field of the call through e-mailing concertjapan@tubitak.gov.tr until 31 December 2011.
Through the call, one or more categories of sub-activities could be supported including research, mobility, networking and/or innovation. The exact focus of the call, i.e. mobility, networking, and/or research and innovation, is expected to be specified and publicly announced in the first half of 2012. The grants will be provided through a merit-based competitive selection process.
After the publication of the call, which is expected mid-2012, two brokerage events will be held, one being in Japan and the other in Europe. The researchers interested in the call may participat the events for matchmaking and project development purposes. The exact timing and place of the events will be announced through this website.
When published, the call itself will be announced through this website as well as the websites of the participating funding organizations. Interested researchers and organizations are highly recommended to follow the news about the call through this website. CONCERT-Japan project also has a Twitter account through which it aims to reach the research community in Europe and Japan: @CONCERTJapan. Through the Twitter account, news about the project and the developments regarding the pilot joint call are being disseminated. Researchers are recommended to follow it to receive day to day updates.
Information for Funding Organizations
For participation and providing funding to the CONCERT-Japan pilot joint call, a funding organization does not necessarily have to be a member of the project consortium. The pilot joint call of CONCERT-Japan project is open to the participation of interested outside funding organizations from Europe and Japan. Research funding organizations which are not part of the CONCERT-Japan consortium are encouraged to become a part of the network and collaborate in the pilot joint call. Especially organizations in Europe which would like to develop their science, technology and innovation cooperation with Japan in a multilateral context are called to be more involved in the project activities and participate the CONCERT-Japan pilot joint call.
In order to encourage and attract additional funding organizations, CONCERT-Japan project will address interested organizations through one-to-one meetings and invitations to project's events and conferences.
The first such Conference will be held on 26 July 2011, in Budapest, Hungary, bringing together various stakeholders interested in Europe - Japan science, technology and innovation cooperation: CONCERT-Japan Stakeholders Conference on Europe - Japan STI Cooperation.
